General information > Welcome

Welcome to Passion for Knowledge - Quantum 13, a fest to promote science as a key activity for the well-being of future generations, as well as highlight the thirst of knowledge as the driving force behind, scientific, technological and cultural progress.

Passion for Knowledge - Quantum 13 is a scientific communication event that aspires to gather together scientists and general public to talk about the importance of science in our daily life, and in particular to talk about the importance of quantum mechanics in many different fields, not only science, but culture and economy as well.

The Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) hosts this event, within the framework of Euskampus, the Campus of International Excellence of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

DIPC is a center devoted to research at the cutting-edge of science, but since its very conception it has also assumed the responsibility of conveying scientific knowledge to society, because it believes that scientific culture contributes to the progress and freedom of society. The center offers meeting spaces for scientists and organizes events such as this festival, that brings science to the citizen. DIPC strives to generate an intellectual climate intended to awaken curiosity, interest, fascination, enthusiasm and passion for knowledge, especially among the young.

The core of activities of Passion for Knowledge - Quantum 13 will be held in the city of Donostia-San Sebastián, however one of its challenges will be to become an event that transcends beyond its main venue. Since Euskampus is a Country project, part of the program of Passion for Knowledge - Quantum 13 will be held in Bilbao, as well as in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The program of polyhedral nature is similar to previous events organized by the DIPC and will include diverse activities aiming to engage the society and bring the world of science, in particular the fascinating world of quantum, to the public:
